The overlay is deposited via open-arc cladding, yielding a composite with high levels of primary chromium carbides (Cr7C3) oriented perpendicular to the wear surface.
The microstructure of our CCO wear plates consists of hexagonal primary carbides embedded within a tough, eutectic matrix. When subjected to abrasive media, these carbides serve as load-bearing anchors, preventing micro-cutting and gouging of the softer binder phase. This bimetallic metallurgy provides a surface hardness rating of 58 to 65 HRC, even at elevated operational temperatures up to 1000°F (540°C).
