Chromium Carbide Overlay (CCO) plates represent a major advancement in tribological engineering. The primary M7C3 carbides have a hardness of approximately 1500 to 2000 HV (Vickers), providing a barrier against abrasive particles like silica, clinker, coal, and metallic slag. The structural backing plate absorbs high structural mechanical loads, providing structural integrity and allowing the wear plate to be shaped, rolled, and welded directly onto the machine frames without cracking or delamination.
