View Details →Fiji's geographic isolation and tropical, high-salinity marine environment present distinct operational challenges for industrial components. In key sectors like gold mining in Vatukoula, limestone extraction, river dredging (such as the Rewa River initiatives), and cement production, equipment is subject to dual-force degradation: severe mechanical sliding abrasion and accelerate oxidation.
Standard carbon steel (such as mild steel or AR400/500 quenched and tempered plates) often experiences rapid degradation under these circumstances. The high humidity and constant coastal moisture promote galvanic corrosion, which accelerates mechanical spalling. Consequently, wear components require advanced metallurgical properties that prioritize chromium-carbide density and structural integration.
By transitioning to Chromium Carbide Overlay (CCO) wear plates, Fijian operations can significantly extend the lifespan of raw material handling systems. Tangshan Runxing Machinery’s premium overlay plates contain a high concentration of primary chromium carbides (M7C3) with microhardnesses reaching up to 1500 HV. This ensures a highly wear-resistant barrier that protects against continuous particle impingement.
Why CCO Plates outperform conventional hardened steel in tropical climates:
*Compiled in accordance with international ASTM G65 abrasive wear testing protocols.
How Tangshan Runxing Machinery minimizes total cost of ownership (TCO) for international wear-plate procurement, delivering premium quality directly to South Pacific terminals.
Our production facilities utilize modern multi-head automated cladding systems. This technology ensures uniform deposit thickness, strict control over dilution with the base metal, and a consistent distribution of carbide grains across the entire plate surface.
All export documentation, customs clearance, sea freight logistics, and transaction settlements are managed by Hebei Yuwan International Trade Co., Ltd. This specialized arrangement ensures efficient transit to Suva and Lautoka ports, with optimized packaging protocols designed to prevent ocean corrosion.
We provide full-service customization based on customer drawings, including CAD layout, plasma arc cutting, countersunk mounting holes, and pre-forming. This allows for direct installation at site locations in Fiji, minimizing secondary fabrication costs.

The performance of Runxing composite plates is derived from the microstructure of the overlay deposit. During the open-arc or submerged-arc cladding process, high-chromium wire is melted onto a structural carbon-steel backing plate (typically Q235B or Q355B). Rapid cooling forms a hypereutectic microstructure where hexagonal-shaped primary chromium carbides (Cr7C3) are oriented perpendicular to the wear surface. This alignment provides high resistance to abrasive particles sliding across the face of the plate.
Furthermore, because the backing plate retains its ductility, the composite sheet can be formed, rolled, and welded to existing equipment structures without cracking the backing plate itself. Fine, stress-relieving cracks are normal and occur during manufacturing to release thermal stress. These cracks do not penetrate into the backing steel and do not compromise structural integrity under typical load conditions.

Our wear plates feature overlay alloys containing 25% to 35% chromium. This high chromium content forms a stable passivation layer that helps resist pitting and galvanic corrosion in high-salinity marine environments like Fiji's ports, preventing premature spalling under mechanical wear.
CCO plates cannot be cut with traditional oxygen-fuel torches due to the high melting point of chromium carbides. We recommend using plasma arc cutting from the carbon steel backing side toward the overlay. For mounting, plates can be bolted via countersunk holes or plug-welded to existing support structures.
These surface fissures are normal stress-relief cracks that occur during the surfacing process as the weld metal cools. They do not penetrate the ductile carbon steel backing and do not compromise the plate's structural integrity or performance.
Yes. We provide complete custom fabrication services based on your CAD drawings. We cut plates using CNC plasma systems, pre-bend them to target radii (overlay inside or outside), and attach studs or cutouts to match your equipment dimensions before shipment.
