During the automated surfacing process, high-chromium flux-cored alloys are deposited onto a mild steel base (ASTM A36 / Q235B). As the weld pool cools, primary hexagonal Chromium Carbides (Cr7C3) crystallize within a tough, austenitic iron matrix.
While standard AR400/AR500 martensitic steel plates achieve microhardness around 400-500 HV, the primary M7C3 carbides embedded within Tangshan Runxing’s RX-wp series reach microhardness levels of 1700 HV to 2000 HV. These embedded carbides act as microscopic barriers that turn aside sharp mineral particles encountered during mining and earth-moving operations in Ebebiyin.
A common concern among maintenance engineers in Ebebiyin is the presence of fine transverse cracks on the hardfacing surface. In professional CCO plate manufacturing, these transverse cross-cracks are intentional and essential. Known as stress-relief cracking, they release interfacial shear stresses developed during alloy solid-solution contraction.
