See more products>In modern heavy industry, tribological degradation—specifically abrasion, impact, erosion, and corrosion—accounts for significant financial losses. Global energy, mining, cement, and steel operations lose billions of dollars annually to unplanned plant shutdowns and replacement parts. Hardfacing (or wear surfacing) has shifted from a simple maintenance practice to a critical design engineering tool.
By depositing a wear-resistant alloy layer onto a ductile carbon steel base via flux-cored arc welding (FCAW) or open-arc overlay, industrial operators achieve structural strength paired with surface durability. The core of this technology revolves around the microstructure: primary chromium carbides (Cr7C3) embedded in a hard, supporting austenitic or martensitic matrix. This combination prevents micro-ploughing and gouging from hard mineral particles like silica and iron ore, extending mechanical component lifespans by 5 to 10 times.
Selecting the correct chemical formulation is essential for maximizing wear life. Industrial hardfacing materials generally fall into three metallurgical classes:
China's manufacturing sector remains the global leader in heavy-duty hardfacing products. Tangshan Runxing Machinery Co., Ltd., located in the steel province of Hebei, demonstrates this production capacity.
Tangshan's massive steel industry provides Runxing Machinery with access to high-quality base steels and raw alloy materials, minimizing transport costs and lead times. Our factory integrates:
Raw material handling, vertical roller mills, separator guides, and discharge hoppers suffer severe sliding wear. CCO wear plates protect these areas, minimizing downtime and maintaining mill performance.

In 2023, Yuan Shaoqiang (Dean of Tangshan University), Li Jing (Vice Dean), and Professor Yang Yuehui (Team Leader of Metal Materials and Forming Technology) visited Runxing Machinery to research metal forming and metallurgy. Under the guidance of General Manager Li Xiuhua and Vice General Manager Cui Jianying, our company has developed collaborations that bridge theoretical metallurgical research with industrial application, resulting in wear-resistant overlays with improved performance under high temperature and mechanical stress.
Since 2019, Tangshan Runxing Machinery has been an authorized representative for VAUTID (Germany) welding materials. Over six consecutive years of partnership, we have manufactured wear-resistant products utilizing German alloy formulations. This allows us to offer products that combine European metallurgical engineering with the production scale and cost efficiencies of our Chinese manufacturing facility.
The industry is shifting from manual maintenance welding to automated, high-deposition processes. Runxing’s automatic surfacing equipment features advanced numerical control interfaces accessed via a 10.2-inch touch screen. The machinery supports:

read more >Hardfacing wire is a specialized welding consumable (either solid or flux-cored) designed to deposit a wear-resistant alloy layer onto a base metal. It is used to rebuild worn components or protect new ones in high-wear environments like mining buckets, cement grinders, and steel mill chutes.
Flux-cored wire allows the inclusion of carbide-forming elements (chromium, carbon, niobium, boron) inside the core. This permits high-alloy deposits that cannot be easily produced in solid wire form. Additionally, self-shielded flux-cored wires do not require external shielding gas, making them suitable for outdoor field repairs.
Chromium Carbide Overlay (CCO) is a composite material featuring a structural steel backing plate clad with a high-chromium, high-carbon alloy weld layer. This layer contains primary Cr7C3 carbides with a typical hardness of 58–62 HRC, which block abrasive particles from wearing down the underlying plate.
Purchasing agents should evaluate the chemical composition (specifically chromium and carbon percentages), the hardness range (typically measured in HRC), the wear mechanism suitability (abrasion vs. impact), wire diameter, and packing configurations suitable for automatic feed systems.
Automated cladding provides precise control over temperature and travel speed, ensuring uniform weld bead deposition. This limits dilution (mixing) with the base carbon steel, keeping the wear layer alloy concentration high throughout the overlay thickness.
DIN 8555 is a European metallurgical standard that classifies filler metals for surfacing based on alloy composition, mechanical properties, and the type of wear resistance they provide. Runxing's RX®wp 7600 corresponds to these guidelines.
As a certified VAUTID partner for six consecutive years, Runxing combines European alloy designs and quality control protocols with Chinese production scale and shipping access, providing reliable wear-resistant components.
Export operations are managed through Hebei Yuwan International Trade Co., Ltd., which coordinates customs clearance, maritime shipping, and documentation, ensuring delivery to regions including Central Asia, Russia, Africa, and Latin America.
