The bimetallic chromium carbide overlay (CCO) wear plate represents a quantum leap in longevity. By fusing a low-carbon structural base plate (such as Q235B or Q345B) with a super-hard high-chromium carbide alloy, we create a composite material that offers structural ductility alongside high-grade surface hardness.
Our core metallurgical range, including the RX®wp 7600 series compliant with DIN 8555, maintains hardness levels between 58 and 62 HRC even under elevated temperatures. The combination of carbon (4.0% to 5.5%) and chromium (25% to 35%) ensures a high volume fraction of carbides within the eutectic matrix.
The structural composition of our CCO plates features a solid backing plate to absorb impacts and allow for easy welding and mounting on structural frames, and a wear layer built up via an automated weld cladding process. In comparison to quenched and tempered steel plates (like AR400 or AR500), our CCO plates deliver up to 5 to 10 times higher wear resistance under extreme conditions.
