What is the typical composition of Runxing Chromium Carbide Overlay (CCO) plates?
Our CCO plates feature a high-density hyper-eutectic deposit. The overlay alloy chemistry usually ranges from 3.5% to 5.5% Carbon (C) and 25% to 35% Chromium (Cr). This composition results in a high volume fraction of primary M7C3 carbides embedded in a ductile, wear-resistant austenitic matrix.
Why do bimetallic wear plates have visible micro-cracks on the surface?
These are stress relief cracks. They occur naturally during welding solidification due to different thermal expansion coefficients between the high-alloy deposit and the carbon steel backing. They relieve internal residual stresses, preventing distortion or peeling during installation, and do not affect the plate's structural performance.
Can CCO plates be hot-formed, rolled, or welded on site?
Yes. The structural steel base (e.g., Q235B or Q355B) provides excellent weldability. The plates can be rolled or curved (carbide surface inward or outward) depending on the equipment geometry.
