Can Runxing CCO wear plates operate effectively in high-temperature environments? +
Yes, our standard Chromium Carbide Overlay wear plates can withstand sustained operating temperatures up to 350°C (662°F). For extreme temperature applications (such as furnace charging systems or cement mill cyclone preheaters up to 600°C), we customize the chemistry of the overlay by adding secondary refractory alloys (such as niobium, molybdenum, or tungsten) to prevent thermal softening and carbide oxidation.
How do you handle welding, cutting, and installing bimetallic wear plates? +
Because the chromium carbide overlay is extremely hard, it cannot be cut with typical mechanical shears or bandsaws. It must be cut using plasma arc cutting, laser cutting, or high-pressure waterjets. To install the plates, they are welded from the back side (mild steel backing) using standard MIG/MAG processes. We also provide pre-machined options with pre-fabricated countersunk holes, studs, or secure backer bars, allowing for fast replacement on site.
