How is a Chromium Carbide Overlay (CCO) plate manufactured, and what backing materials are standard?
CCO wear plates are produced by depositing a highly alloyed, weld-overlay composite containing chromium carbides onto a carbon or low-alloy steel backing plate. The primary method is open-arc weld overlay cladding. The standard backing material is structural steel (such as Q235B or A36) because it provides excellent mechanical toughness and weldability, allowing the plate to be mounted or welded directly to equipment structures.
What is the difference between Runxing CCO plates and traditional Quenched and Tempered (Q&T) steels?
Quenched and Tempered (Q&T) steels (e.g., typical 400 HBW or 500 HBW grades) achieve hardness through heat treatment of the base plate, which is uniform throughout but loses abrasion resistance as operating temperatures rise. In contrast, CCO plates feature a bimetallic structure. The cladding layer is dense with $M_7C_3$ carbides that maintain their physical hardness (up to 1600 HV) and structural performance even under working temperatures up to 600°C.
Why do CCO plates display surface cracks, and do they impact performance?
The visible cracks on the surface of bimetallic wear plates are stress-relief cracks. These cracks occur naturally during the weld overlay process due to the thermal contraction differences between the alloy cladding and the structural steel backing. These relief cracks do not penetrate into the backing metal and do not affect the plate's wear resistance or structural stability. In fact, they permit rolling and bending of the composite plates.
How does the custom-processed wear liner service work for overseas buyers?
Overseas clients supply CAD drawings detailing required dimensions and bolt hole configurations. Runxing utilizes CNC plasma and water-jet systems to cut the CCO plates to size, weld studs or countersunk holes on the backing plate, and deliver ready-to-mount components. All export paperwork, payment clearing, and international logistics are managed by Hebei Yuwan International Trade Co., Ltd.
Can you provide roller surfacing and repair on-site?
Yes. Runxing offers automated roll repair and surfacing rebuilds both at our manufacturing facility and on-site for milling equipment in cement and power plants. Utilizing our dedicated automatic cladding systems and matching self-shielded cored wires, we rebuild grinding roll profiles to restore original tolerances and improve operational durability.
